Canon Pixma G6092 Series Reviews PrintersThe Canon PIXMA G6092 integrates four ink reservoirs in a very compact three-in-one device and comes with six bottles of ink that are abundant in the box. That’s enough to print 18,000 pages of black and white and 7,700 in color. It has enough space to load 350 sheets of paper and can be easily accessed via a USB cable or Wi-Fi with an intuitive smartphone application for printing and cloud scanning. In short, it’s well defined for use in a small office that needs to turn out a lot of documents and photos.

The Canon PIXMA G6092 looks expensive along with other office inkjet with more features, until you consider six bottles of ink (three black and three colors) included in the box. Consider that and the Canon PIXMA G6092 looks like a bargain.

The Canon PIXMA G6092 integrates four large ink tanks into a compact and surprising design. Obviously there is a design advantage in doing away with a large plastic ink cartridge because there is space inside for that enough in the 250 sheets of the main paper tray. You can load another 100 sheet on the rear tray and this is where the photo paper and the envelope should go.

It’s convincing to see the actual ink level yourself rather than waiting for the printer to tell you that one of your cartridges is empty. Tanks are pretty big, so you won’t recharge very often. The main paper drawer also has a clear plastic window which allows you to see at a glance how many papers there.

Unlike Canon’s other PIXMA printers, which are dominated by large colored touchscreen displays, the new G series only has two-line Mono LCD in a tilt control panel. It’s a disappointing step backwards, but the sacrifices are necessary in order to get the ink tanks while keeping the cost down. There is no SD Card slot or front USB port for the same reason. The A4 size scan bed is above and if you don’t really need a scanner, then the more affordable PIXMA G5050 is essentially the same machine without a scanner.

Being a three-in-one device means you can print, scan and copy. There are no fax facilities, but there are many other key features. It can automatically print both sides of a page for example, and can handle all paper sizes up to A4. It includes glossy photo paper, envelopes and Parcel labels, all of which can be loaded into the rear tray.

There is a USB and Ethernet port on the back, and with Wi-Fi built in, you can also connect wirelessly through your network or using Wi-Fi Direct. Canon’s AirPrint, Google Cloud Print, PictBridge and PIXMA Cloud links are all available for easy Cloud printing.

The print resolution is 4800×1200 dpi, while the scan is at 1200 x 2400 which is a fairly high resolution and promises strong copying functionality. The printed speed was quoted somewhat slowly at 13 IPM in Mono and only 6 IPM in color.

So what features are missing? Well, there is no ADF (Automatic document feeder) or fax and no NFC connectivity or flash memory card slot for photographers. Unfortunately, there is even no front USB port to print directly from the thumb drive either. Unfortunately there are only four inks available, as other Canon printers often use five or even six colors to compose the photo. In this case, black ink is a pigment (not a dye), which is great for text documents, but no additional black dyes are better for printing photos.

Setting up the Canon PIXMA G6092 involves fitting the first two fine inkjet cartridges, which seems surprising for the cartridge-less system should be. However, both small carts should not be replaced.

When in place, you can then pour the ink from the supplied bottle. The nozzles are shaped so you can fill each tank upwards without shedding the drop. However, it will be possible to pour the wrong color into the wrong tank, so be careful. The tanks are stopped with a rubber seal, though we wouldn’t suggest storing this on its side if you have to put it back in the INS box with ink in the tank.

Unlike similar Canon printers, TS8050 PIXMA For example, there is no setup Wizard to help you connect to your wireless network or print test pages to check the print head alignment. The Canon Companion app will get you connected to Wi-Fi, so you can use your smartphone to type in your Wi-Fi password, but it won’t give you access to your printer settings.
