The MP990 feature Set includes print, copy, and scan. Sorry type of business, there is no fax here, although at AU $449 the price point it may be reasonably expected to be included. It’s not a printer for those who want quality image printing, and with the inclusion of CD Printing and movie/slide scanning, it’s a piston in a creative crowd.Canon rate MP990 on up to 11.9 images per minute (HDI) for black text, up to 9.1 IPM for color, and about 20 seconds for unlimited photo printing 10x15cm. If the figure feels on the low side for you, remember that Canon uses the IPM ISO 24734 standard rather than a slightly old shaking speed per minute. IPM should be more accurate for real-life use, which means our tests should be quite similar to those in real testing. The Canon PIXMA MP990 Scanner is a type of CCD with a scanning resolution of 4800x9600dpi, and it is able to scan movies and slides with adapters provided for up to six movie frames and four slides at a time. On the front connection, MP990 connects via USB, wired or wireless Ethernet. Technically Bluetooth is capable, but you have to spend extra money on a Bluetooth adapter to make this happen.
Canon PIXMA MP990 Performance
Installing MP990 is a pretty relaxing affair. Which is a great way to say that it’s a bit slow, not so much on the physical installation side, but on the side of the software? The default installation is very slow, especially since all Canon’s additional printer utility packages assume the ones you want. We would suggest choosing to install custom and ticking off the bits that you actually need unless you need a lot of time thinking.
To print a text page, MP990 manages one page in nine seconds and averages 10 pages per minute in normal black coverage. We saw a while at that time that the printer tends to take a somewhat long pause between multiple printed pages. Maybe it’s re-adjusting to avoid paper jams or a full buffer. We’re not sure, but the effect is definitely slower overall print times, as switching to the concept of speed sees only the lightest increased an average of eight seconds for a single page draft and 11 pages printed within a minute span. Print quality is very good in normal, and allegedly light in draft mode. Considering Canon’s only TARIFF printer at around 11.9 IPM, 10 pages for real-world documents are not too bad. It’s not very fast, of course, but at least it doesn’t disappoint.
We were more disappointed with PIXMA MP990 ‘ s Speed Print photos. Where Canon claimed the photo 10x15cm in “About 20 seconds “, we averaged more like 40 seconds. The wait was worth though, with both the sharp color reproduction and the print that came out sticky touches, but not actually moist. Like MP560, the photo media loads from a large tray on the back, and after this extended it makes this huge printer take up more desk space.
There is always a trade-off between speed and quality when it comes to inkjet printing. Canon PIXMA MP990 is in the edges; Compared to many printers rated as “photo capable ” It was rather a quiet printer in pure speed terms, but some printers would fit well with the meat photos quite well.
