Design
The TS5110 is petite and appears black or white. It’s small, 16.8 inches deep, 12.5 inches in depth and 5.8 inches tall to fit your desk. If paper is not inserted, the weight of 14 lbs is a little light and easy to move. The small 2.5-inch LCD is display only and is not a touchscreen. However, there are physical buttons that make the stand-alone operation easier. The printer has an automatic document feeder at the top and there is no SD card slot or USB direct print port to print from memory card or thumb drive.
There is no automatic document feeder at the top. At the bottom of the chassis is a paper cassette with an output tray directly above the tray. The output tray is short and has a narrow tongue folded on the hinge to support the output. Both the input tray and output tray feel awkward. I found that the input cassette is partially covered.
The paper cassette handles only plain paper and can contain 100 sheets. There is a second vertical tray on the back of the unit. After lifting the paper support, you can insert up to 100 sheets of plain paper or 20 4×6 inches of paper.
Print speed
TS5110 printed a five-page text document at 36.1 seconds or 8.3 pages per minute. It is a rough average speed. For example, Editor’s Pick Epson XP-640 was a few seconds faster in 20.6 seconds.
In addition, the TS5110 printed the mixed text and color graphics document at average speed. At 2 minutes and 33 seconds (or 2.4 p m), this printer was a much slower speed than the fastest model we tested (Epson XP-640) (takes 1 minute and 11 seconds).
The TS5110 will make the duplex text print at 2.2 GHz relatively slow compared to the average 3.1 p m. Printing a 10-page text document at 4 minutes and 29 seconds took longer than average for one minute.
However, TS5110 is one of the fastest models for printing double-sided color documents with mixed text and graphics. The TS5110, which printed six pages of documents with 2.2 GHz, surpassed almost all other models. For 2 minutes and 47 seconds, the T S 5120 is 40 seconds faster than the average 3 minutes 27 seconds.
TS5110 is faster than average when printing test images in high resolution settings on letter size paper. It took four minutes, three seconds, and 55 seconds faster than the average. However, many other models were faster. For example, the Canon Pixma 6020 has printed the same image in just one minute or 54 seconds.
The TS5110 printed 4 x 6 pages in 1 minute, 2 seconds in the default settings, and 3 seconds for 2 minutes at the highest quality setting.
Copy and Scan speed
The TS5110 has roughly turned the average speed in the copy test. A black-and-white page was copied about 14.4 seconds or about one second faster than average. The Epson XP-640 made the same copy in 11.8 seconds, and the HP Envy 5540 was considerably slow in 21.9 seconds.
Although the color copy was made in 29.3 seconds, the TS5110 was less than average, but the lighting was slow in 10 seconds than the Canon Pixma 6020. The TS5110 is 61 seconds faster than the average. Editor’s Pick Epson XP-640 has done this in 25.8 seconds. At the other end of the spectrum, the HP Envy 5540 was occupied 1:31 to perform the same scan.
If you scan to 300dpi in black and white, the TS5110 will work very quickly. Since the creation of PDFs only takes only 7.3 seconds, the T S 5120 is the fastest model in this test. In comparison, Epson XP-640 took 16.1 seconds. This was the only speed test where the T s 5120 surpasses the Editor’s pick.
Print Quality
The text is fairly dark and sharp, but the wrong spray has damaged the edges of some character forms. The text printout is not comparable to the sharpness of the laser printer results, but the quality is pretty good. However, double-sided printing of text is lighter and more dull than single-sided printing.
The TS5110 printed a very attractive color graphic on plain paper. The colors are well saturated and have a lot of natural and delicate details. The mid-tone conversion looks smooth. As with double-sided printing, color graphics printed using a duplexer will look light in its entirety. Dark areas are printed in a particularly light color. However, the details and smooth midtone transitions have been maintained.
